The brief
What this program is, in plain language.
Three quarters of pre-PMF startups assign product strategy to whoever shows up for the meeting. This program treats that ambiguity as a feature: it teaches you to run lightweight product strategy without a dedicated product hire, while keeping engineering throughput honest.
What is included
- Five working sessions over five weeks
- A repeatable opportunity tree exercise scaled to small teams
- Two reviews of your real product backlog by an outside operator
- Discovery template tuned to engineering-led teams
- A short writing assignment per week, reviewed in cohort
Outcomes you can defend
- A working opportunity tree updated quarterly
- A discovery cadence integrated with your sprint rhythm
- A clear written boundary between product and engineering scope
Frequently asked, honestly answered
Is this an introduction to product management?
No. It is built specifically for engineers who already own product calls without a dedicated product manager.
How much writing is involved?
Roughly one short essay per week, eight hundred to twelve hundred words.
Honest limitation
We do not teach UX research craft or interview moderation in depth. Those need their own program.
From the cohort floor
The opportunity tree exercise from session two became our quarterly planning artifact. It survived a leadership change and a pivot. Olivia Park · Engineering Lead · Coreframe Labs
Three of the five sessions were excellent. The fourth dragged. I would still recommend it for any engineering lead who keeps inheriting product work. Aram
